Reading brings us together

We are a community who loves to read.

It’s not surprising that a group of parents, committed to education, would also love to read. We see the titles that our kids are exposed to, and we either remember with fondness when we read these classics, or lament that we never read them. Either way, Colorado Academy parents have an appreciation of reading.

We have several Parent Association events focused on books, and while they take different forms, all bring people together around the love of books.

On October 24, we resumed a tradition of the All-School Book Fair at Barnes and Noble. Volunteers Dusty Fitzgerald and Amy Fleming-Heller chaired this event, and the community enjoyed a lovely afternoon at the “Paws for Reading” event.

Kia Kofron and the dedicated parents that gather for CA Parent Book Club have enjoyed around seven meetings a year, discussing a wide variety of titles. The next book club gathering is December 11, where they will discuss The Home for Unwanted Girls and have a potluck and book exchange. Please look at the CA calendar for more details on how to get involved.

Looking to the New Year, the Used Book Sale, a beloved event that brings the community together, will kick off with Holly Garnsey, Maggie Shapiro, and Annie Campbell leading the charge. Starting in January, keep an eye out for book collection times and ways to support this event.

It’s a joy when parents come together to share a moment over a good book.

Hope to see you at a CA literary-themed event coming soon!
