CA Gives Day breaks record set last year!

On November 6, Colorado Academy held its third annual CA Gives Day in support of The CA Fund, and once again, the day exceeded all expectations, thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the CA community. Overall, 531 parents, alumni, grandparents, parents of alumni, current and former faculty and staff, current CA Seniors, and friends participated in CA Gives Day, committing $731,000 in support of The CA Fund.

More than 120 alumni participated in CA Gives Day, contributing almost $50,000, double the amount contributed by alumni during the 2018 CA Gives Day.

This year the school launched a new dedicated CA Gives Day website, which featured videos from members across the community sharing why they support The CA Fund. The website also included real-time donor and dollar totals, as well as a donor list. In addition, as part of CA Gives Day, two families issued generous challenges. The first was a $50,000 gift to The CA Fund if 400 donors made a gift or pledge as part of CA Gives Day, and the second was a lunchtime challenge where every gift between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., was matched dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000. The CA community responded with incredible enthusiasm, easily surpassing each challenge.

Regarding the day’s success, Board of Trustee Development Committee Chair, CA alumna, and parent Liz Buckingham Oertel ’93 says, “We are so very grateful to our incredibly generous community for helping make CA Gives Day a huge success!”

“Thank you for making CA Gives Day a success!” says CA Fund Chair, trustee, and parent Meshach Rhoades. “With your support, we are continuing the CA Fund’s vital work. Every dollar we raise goes to support CA and its mission. I am so grateful for the opportunity to support that mission and to model for our students why philanthropy is important.”

Participation by all members of the CA community is critical to the success of The CA Fund. For the fifteenth year in a row, 100 percent of faculty and staff contributed to The CA Fund. Each year our goal is to achieve 100 percent parent participation by June 30, and during this year’s CA Gives Day, parent participation increased from 26 percent to 60 percent. As of November 21, 2019, First Grade parents are leading at 89 percent participation, and Pre-K parents are close behind at 83 percent participation. Thank you to everyone who has supported The CA Fund this year! Every gift, no matter the size, truly makes a difference in the lives of CA students.

CA’s fiscal year runs until June 30, 2020, so there is still time to support The CA Fund, if you have not yet done so.
