When Rockies and Mustangs united for the first all-Senior day in the Upper School, there was plenty to celebrate. It was the first time the Class of 2021 had been together since Colorado Academy transitioned to remote learning in March, and there were burritos for breakfast (compliments of the Alumni Association). But the highlight of the day was CA’s treasured tradition—matching Seniors and their Kindergarten Buddies. (Scroll down to see all the Senior-Kindergarten Buddies!)
It took careful planning by Lower School Principal Angie Crabtree and Junior Dean Steven Hammer, and it took cooperation of all students who were allowed to remove their masks for a “mask break” when they sat down to read a book. In the end, even a pandemic could not cancel a favorite fall moment—when an excited Kindergartner greets an equally excited Senior and creates a friendship that may last for decades—even if the first meeting ends with an air hug.
