Members of the CA Youth Philanthropy Board last month visited one of the grantees from last year’s philanthropic gifts to serve people who are handicapped. Students visited the Traumatic Brain Injury Program at Craig Hospital. The Board awarded $7000 in grants to the Craig Hospital program last year and were invited to see the grant dollars at work. What makes the Traumatic Brain Injury Program so effective is that each patient and family works with an interdisciplinary team of experienced clinicians throughout their recovery. These dynamic teams include everyone from rehabilitation nurses and school tutors to dietitians and insurance adjusters. During the visit, board members were able to directly see firsts hand the impact of the Philanthropy Program’s grant-making process.
