We’ve all watched from afar as, brick by brick, the new Colorado Academy Athletic Center has risen from a (very large) hole in the ground to a wonderful new venue for athletic practice and competition. Have you been curious about what it looks like inside? Well, you are not the only one!
Now the moment has arrived for everyone to walk through the open doors of the Athletic Center and experience the thrill of what makes it special—the climbing wall, the fitness and training centers, a new practice gym, a refurbished competition gym, and a new team room.
When: Wednesday, February 6
What time: 8:30 a.m.
Where: Outside the West Entrance to the Athletic Center
Students and parents will gather to watch the ribbon-cutting for the long-awaited reveal of the new Athletic Center, before heading inside for an All-School Assembly. CA’s favorite giant red bow will make a special appearance on the Athletic Center. Head of School Dr. Mike Davis and others will have brief remarks, the doors will open, and the entertainment will begin.
It will be the ultimate Battle of the Mascots, with CA’s “Gus” taking on the Nuggets’ Supermascot “Rocky.” Don’t miss this chance to see CA’s favorite mustang conquer the mountain lion!
After the opening, parents are invited to stay and explore the new facilities. During the school day, students will begin using all the new and wonderful features during their regular P.E. classes.
The evening of February 6 will mark the public debut of the Athletic Center, with a full roster of home basketball games. Families interested in enrolling their children at CA are invited to attend the games. The Varsity Girls game starts at 5:30 p.m. and the Varsity Boys game begins at 7:00 p.m. So mark your calendar now—and let the games begin!
