This has been a busy season of culminating ceremonies at Colorado Academy. As my twins just graduated from CA and are about to head to college, I find myself thinking about how important Colorado Academy has been for their intellectual development and how fortunate our family has been to be part of this dynamic community.
As a parent, I find myself ever grateful for the dedicated teachers, coaches, and artists who encouraged my children to challenge themselves and to grow. I am appreciative of a school mission that is focused on developing the whole child. From their first days when they joined the CA community at age 9 to my twin daughters receiving their diplomas, I have seen them grow as learners and as ethical human beings who are now ready to move to the next level in their education.
These reflections have made me even more dedicated to doing all that I can to sustain Colorado Academy as one of the best schools in the nation. Every year, we adjust aspects of our program to ensure our work is relevant. We continuously rethink policies to improve our ability to support learning and safety on our campus.
In the coming months, communication about important start-of-school activities and events will start to come your way. I urge you to take time to read them carefully, and to read through our All-School Handbook, which is updated annually. Any community is created around commonly held values and rules, and it is critical that all constituents understand our expectations, policies, and procedures.
Growing up and parenting in the 21st century is not easy. But, our mission is to support students and nurture their growth. We do this by setting high standards and by helping students learn to be responsible. As educators, we know that each year offers new opportunities for students to grow, for them to redefine themselves, and for each student to come closer to realizing his or her full potential.
I hope you have a summer that is relaxing and enjoyable. I look forward to seeing you in August.
