I love the chance to connect with Colorado Academy alumni that this newsletter provides. It spotlights fellow Mustangs, features time-honored traditions like Homecoming, and shares important “save-the-date” reminders.
It’s also my chance to report on our school. Now in my 15th year as CA’s Head of School, I can proudly say I’m excited as ever for CA’s future. Our campus footprint is stunning and only getting better. Many of your former classmates are now members of our faculty and staff. Don’t miss the article on the many ways they are connecting with current students. Our student body is as large and as diverse as ever, with more than 1,036 students filling our halls every day. And we’ll soon be playing on a second lighted turf field under construction on the Newton property across Pierce Street.
We also are very intentionally trying to find new opportunities to connect with you. REDI Lab Director Tom Thorpe recently was in California updating graduates on this signature program in its soon-to-be new location in Denver’s Mariposa neighborhood. Athletic Director Bill Hall has reached out to our field sport alums to ensure they know about the Newton Field, and Field Hockey coach Veronica Scott invited former players to meet this year’s team before their Homecoming game under the new stadium lights at Slater Field.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that CA Gives Day is next week on Thursday, October 20, 2022. Again this year, two alumni are challenging every one of you to join them in this annual day of philanthropy to support CA’s programs, students, and faculty. We hope to surpass last year’s success with 150 alumni joining in. If 150 alumni donate on this day, the alums will add $5,000 and a Head of School challenge will unlock an additional $5,000. Learn more about the impact you can have by supporting The CA Fund.
Enjoy the updates this newsletter provides. Director of Alumni Relations Sue Burleigh does a terrific job of tracking your talents and your whereabouts. We appreciate your help in connecting us with any members of your class who may not be receiving this newsletter. I look forward to seeing many of you at the 2023 Reunions and Giant Relay Day.
We truly value the ongoing relationships we have with our alumni. Know that each of you has an open invitation to stop by any time.
