Braving traffic and across-the-metro-area distance travel, a companionable crowd of Los Angeles-area former CA community members joined Head of School Dr. Mike Davis, Choir Director Cindy Jordan, and Fourth Grade teacher Suzanne Kolsun Jackson on Saturday evening, March 9, for a lively gathering at the Brentwood home of Brielle Lebsack Cohen ’92. Despite some guests’ hour-plus drive, everyone enjoyed getting together to compare their time at CA, greet the teachers, speak individually with Mike Davis, and hear from him about the current state of the school.
Davis says, “Visiting with our alumni in LA was a highlight of the year. It was wonderful to learn about the impact of the CA experience on their lives. Many shared stories of favorite teachers and powerful learning moments. It was wonderful to see so many come out to show their love and support for the amazing Cindy Jordan—who is clearly one of those great faculty teachers that have shaped the lives of so many.”
Alumni and spouses from the classes of 1968, 1980, 1984, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2005, 2007, and 2009 were in attendance, along with alumni parent, Susan Stevens, (Michelle Stevens Zinn ’97), and former Upper School Spanish teacher Andrés Roblero, now living in the LA area, who also joined the celebration. For many alumni, this was a time to thank Cindy Jordan for her 43 years of choir direction, inspiration, and friendship; others were eager to reconnect with former teachers and to be able meet Mike Davis. Alumni Director Sue Burleigh also enjoyed catching up with such a large group of alumni from so many classes. Brielle has honed her entertaining skills to perfection, and her home was the perfect place to gather. Thank you, Brielle, for hosting CA!
