Crabtree comes to CA from the Webb School in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she has worked for more than 20 years as a teacher, Assistant Lower School Head, and Division Head. Like CA, the Webb School is a private, coeducational day school, enrolling students from pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12.

Crabtree has been a faculty member at three other schools and also has been a part of the Southern Association of Independent Schools Accreditation program for nearly a decade. She has a strong background in curriculum development and differentiated instruction, as well as student assessment. Crabtree holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga and a Master of Education degree in Leadership Studies/Administration and Supervision from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

In accepting the position, Crabtree says, “I am thrilled at this opportunity. Everything I have witnessed and learned about the students, parents, faculty, and leadership at Colorado Academy tells me that this is a community where I can be deeply invested, supported, and successful.”

Head of School Dr. Mike Davis says, “I believe Angie’s experience will serve our Lower School students well and will complement the work of Division Principals Bill Wolf-Tinsman in the Middle School and Dr. Jon Vogels in the Upper School.”

“We were fortunate to have had an impressive field of candidates, with more than 60 applicants from across the country,” Dr. Davis adds. “We also had a committed group of faculty, parents, board members, alumni, students, and administrators who took part in a lengthy and inclusive process. The committee members interviewed and evaluated candidates, had a voice in selecting finalists, and ultimately helped to identify our candidate of choice. Based on our extensive efforts to research each of the candidates, we believe that Angie has the experience, personality, warmth, vision, and drive to lead meaningful and positive change in our Lower School.”

Crabtree will take over for Interim Lower School Principal Allison Peters Jensen.
