In one of Colorado Academy’s favorite and most endearing traditions, when the seniors greet the freshmen on the first day of school, members of the Class of 2019 welcomed the the Class of 2022 in style. Dressed up in their finest western wear, with country music blaring, seniors rushed out to meet each ninth grader, delivering spirited hugs, high-fives, gifts, and T-shirts.
Then, later in the morning, Head of School Dr. Mike Davis gathered the entire student body for the opening day All-School Assembly. Wearing his CA cowboy boots as a tip to this year’s senior theme, Dr. Davis gave shout-outs to welcome the new students and faculty. He then highlighted messages of resiliency, hope, and teamwork exemplified by the Thai soccer team trapped in a cave this summer, the work of their rescuers, and the outpouring of support from around the world.
