In the fourth consecutive State Title match-up, Colorado Academy took on Cherry Creek High School in 5A Girls Lacrosse, and CA won with a convincing 13-7 victory at DU on Wednesday night. While Creek had an early lead, CA exploded in the second half, racking up a 7-5 lead with 22 minutes left in the game, and ultimately finishing with a six-point advantage over the Bruins.
Creek was the top-seeded team and landed in the state title game after beating No. 5 Chaparral. CA beat out Denver East for its trip to the State Championship.
The win over Cherry Creek makes for CA lacrosse’s overall sixth state title. Says CA Director of Athletics Bill Hall, “What a great run. It never gets old. I’m very proud and happy for our coaches, the seniors and alumni. They were the ones to start this. It was another great night for the CA community.”
Continues Hall, “Our girls are lucky to have the leadership of Head Coach Steph Sanders and her coaching staff. For two of the coaches to win, and also become new moms during the season is fantastic.”
