Colorado Academy possesses the No. 1 high school athletics program in Colorado and is among the top-ranked schools in the nation, according to MaxPreps, the CBS Sports website that tracks high school teams and athletes. As the state’s MaxPreps Cup winner, the Mustangs accumulated 1,285 points during the 2023-2024 athletic season, a weighted total that takes into account the school’s record of State Championships, second-place finishes, and national rankings for the year.
At the end of the 2023-2024 school year, CA’s standing were as follows:
Fall State Championships: Boys Soccer, Field Hockey
Fall state runners-up: Boys Tennis
Spring State Championships: Girls Lacrosse, Girls Soccer, Girls Tennis
Spring state runners-up: Girls Golf
Spring national rankings: Girls Lacrosse, No. 11; Girls Soccer, No. 12
The Mustangs’ record put the school ahead of rivals Valor Christian (1,270 points), Cherry Creek (1,205 points), and Regis Jesuit (746 points). Points are weighted based on size of state, popularity of sport, enrollment division, and number of teams competing in each enrollment division. Over 5,500 schools were awarded points nationally, with only 107 of those scoring over 1,000 points.
