When you visit the Colorado Academy Lower School Library in the next few weeks, you may notice that we have moved and reorganized our junior chapter books for easier browsing.
Junior chapter books are a wonderful stepping stone for young readers. They generally contain about 20 lines of text per page with a good-size space between each line. Junior chapter books also have illustrations every few pages. This style and level of chapter books is a wonderful place for students who are making good progress with beginning reader books but are not quite ready for the big kid chapter books.
Junior chapter books are fun and help readers build confidence in their ability and stamina with chapter books, preparing them for the next step. Students in Grades 1-3 often visit the junior chapter book section to find favorites like Captain Underpants, Ivy and Bean, and Puppy Place. Come take a look, and check out some books to read with your students!
