We all arrived safe and sound to Istanbul. The Denver to Frankfurt trip was uneventful but very long of course and then we had to really hustle to get to our connecting flight to Istanbul on the other side of the airport. We landed amidst rainy weather in Istanbul and after clearing customs, getting our luggage, and exchanging money, we were finally able to meet up with our Turkish friends at the airport. There were many hugs and smiles and the Colorado Academy students were whisked off to their hosts’ homes.
Tomorrow we will all meet up at Üsküdar American Academy for the first school day. I just heard my first call to prayer while writing this from my hotel room in old Istanbul — quite an amazing city.
