Superhero Soirée and Auction an epic event supporting CA financial aid

From Superman to Aquaman, Wonder Woman to RBG (Ruth Bader Ginsberg), more than 450 guests in costumes and capes embraced the theme of this year’s “Superhero Soirée” at the first major event held at Colorado Academy’s new Athletic Center.

To everyone’s delight, Spiderman scaled the walls of the new Climbing Center and inspired guests to demonstrate their superpowers by enthusiastically bidding on a terrific array of more than 200 silent and live auction items and raising their paddles to support financial aid at CA. CA alumnus Tom Kimball ’89 emceed the live auction, sporting a CA logo on his Superman costume to remind everyone of the importance of their enthusiastic participation.

Among the evening’s many highlights was a tribute to CA’s very own Wonder Woman, Cindy Jordan, who is retiring after spending 43 years—her entire teaching career—at CA. During a video tribute, the Chamber Choir processed into the room, singing in unison with themselves on video, surprising and delighting Jordan.

The crowd also watched a video featuring Abel Ramirez ’16 and his parents talking about the many ways that financial support can change the future of a family and a community.

Jocelyn Ege and Amy McPheeters and their crew of many volunteers spent countless hours transforming the West Gym into a magical space where CA generosity flourished. By the end of the evening, CA superheroes had raised more than three-quarters of a million dollars to support deserving students in need!
