Postcards from CA’s Global Travelers

Colorado Academy’s Global Travel and Exchange program includes summer trips that are part of the school’s exchange with educational and nonprofit counterparts in countries around the world.  Here are just a few summer travelogue entries from students in Argentina and Peru.

“Whether it was walking around in Buenos Aires, eating meals with Belen (my host)’s family, or going to her school, Argentina showed me a whole different way of life. The people there were eager to hear about life in the U.S. and compare it to their own while hoping to get to know all of the exchange students. They introduced me to delicious food and a carefree lifestyle. After two weeks at the school, I felt like it was home. ”

“My trip to Argentina was a cultural immersion where I got to meet people invested in and proud of their culture. The people that greeted me with such ease were extremely welcoming and enthusiastic to share their lives with me. What struck me most about Buenos Aires was the gorgeous city that is home to some of the most beautiful buildings and structures I have ever seen! This trip opened my eyes to what life can be like around the world and definitely inspired my traveler’s side!”

“The Peruvian landscape and people are unlike any I’ve ever seen. Not only are you in a constant state of reverence under the Peruvian mountains, but also the spirit of the local people stays with you far past your return.”

“The summer trip to Peru was one of the most influential experiences of my life. Being able to experience a foreign culture in such depth as well as being able to spend time with my friends and classmates was such an amazing opportunity I was so lucky to have. I will always remember this trip because of the amazing relationships I formed and the once-in-a-lifetime opportunities it provided.”
