“Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler,” or “Let the Good Times Roll” at Colorado Academy’s hottest event of the year, the school’s fifth biennial benefit concert set for Saturday, May 12, 2018. Get ready for a cultural, culinary, and musical experience unlike any other, as Stamper Commons and the new Field House are transformed into CA’s own New Orleans-style Jazz Festival.
The highlight will be the concert featuring two legendary New Orleans bands: Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue and The Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
Trombone Shorty is known as “the crown prince of New Orleans music,” having grown up in the Treme neighborhood, and soared from there to perform at The White House, the Grammys, Colorado’s Red Rocks, Jazz Aspen, and annually close New Orleans Jazzfest’s Main Stage.
Rolling Stone magazine calls Preservation Hall Jazz Band the “keepers of local
jazz tradition for more than 50 years.” They have played venues from Coachella
to Cuba. In this year that celebrates New Orleans’ tricentennial anniversary, we’ll feature the rich history and culture of one of the country’s most unique and diverse cities.
CA’s “Throw Down” pre-party on Stamper Commons will feature a crawfish boil catered by NOLA’s own Crawfish King—royalty of the seafood boil and master of his trade—coupled with iconic NOLA cocktails. Thanks to our concert volunteer leadership from these CA dads, including Chris Tetzeli, Brent Fedrizzi, Chris Oertel, and Nelson Perkins.
