Dr-Joshua-Sparrow-articleInlineDr. Joshua Sparrow will speak on January 28, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. in Knowles Lecture Hall in the Upper School to parents from all divisions on the topic of  “Setting Limits: Second Only to Love.”

Find out how boundaries and rules make children feel safe and loved. Dr. Joshua Sparrow is the father of two children and is co-author with Dr. T. Berry Brazelton of eight books on common parenting challenges.

Sparrow, child, adolescent, and general psychiatrist, is associate clinical professor in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and Director of Strategy, Planning and Program Development at the Brazelton Touchpoints Center at Children’s Hospital Boston.

His care in the ’90s for thousands of children with psychiatric disturbances and developmental delays prompted his interest in community-based prevention and health promotion. At Brazelton Touchpoints Center, where budget and activities have tripled over the past decade, he has initiated and overseen many of its projects, including a ten-year partnership with Harlem Children’s Zone’s family support and early education programs, Tribal Touchpoints, Touchpoints Latin Initiative, New York City Public Health Department’s Childcare Inspection Project, and others. He received his MD at Yale University.
